Road Trip - The Things Wales Taught Us (Part 3)

My last post of images from my road trip shoot to Wales. After a gorgous yet long day, Wales taught us several things:
  • Wales has a lot of beautiful places
  • Sheep run away when you try to go near them
  • Welsh road signs are fun to try to pronounce
  • When surrounded by nature, singing feels natural
  • Welsh policemen are rather lovely

Road Trip - On the Road (Part 2)

I don't think Wales is blogged about often enough, so good thing Marina Berry and myself went on a road trip recently to capture some of it's beauty and charm. Driving through South Wales up towards the middle through a beautify national park, we also hit some charming little towns on the way.

Here is the second batch of the Wales Road Tip Story I wanted to share with you guys.

Road Trip - In the Village (Part 1)

I recently did a photoshoot with a bit of a twist. I had this idea that I simply HAD to do a photoshoot in Wales. Yes Wales of all places. I had romantic ideas of beautiful scenery, run down and cool places, deserted service stations and villages and sheep....... And when I took my singer/model/TV presenter/friend Marina Berry on a road trip (dragging her up at 5am and bringing her back at midnight may I say) we got ALL of that! Wales did not disappoint.

The idea was to drive from London into south of Wales and work our way up to mid Wales and back towards London again. I hadn't planned where to shoot, we simply drove off like Thelma and Louise and stopped to shoot when we felt like it. Unfortunately we didn't meet Brad Pitt, but we did find some really cool places to shoot.

Since we shot a lot that day and I wanted to share the whole road trip story with you, I will split this blog into three parts. Hope you enjoy the first one :)

This blog experience must have music......

You're Lame!

You're lame if you:
  • Think you're better than others
  • Don't appreciate the beauty of The Vampire Diaries
  • Put people in a box before you've even talked to them
  • Don't think chocolate counts as a meal
  • Are rude to others
  • Wear sunglasses in a club
  • Don't accept others for who they are
  • Can't laugh at yourself
  • Think Norway is the capital of Sweden
  • Is too chicken to apologize for your mistakes
  • Wear white tennis socks over your jeans (that wasn't even cool in the 80s)
  • Never sing in the shower and think you sound awesome
  • Judge my love for reality talent shows
  • Don't dare to dream
  • Think people can read your mind (communication helps)
  • Say you can't cook (ok that's me)
  • Can't see the pleasure in mayonnaise on everything (ok weird Norwegian thing?)
  • Don't make a wish to the universe every now and then
  • Don't comment on this blog post..... that would be totally lame :P

Sundal @ Leni's Model Management

Sundal is such a stunning model that it has to be said twice. Yep, she's a stunning model! Last set of images I wanted to share from that gorgous day shooting in Battersea Park :)

And of course some beautiful music to go with images of a beautiful model. Be patient when listening to the below song as it only starts 20 seconds into it. But worth the wait! ("A Sense of Grey", Moddi)

Yash @ MOT Models

In his modeling time Yash has built quite an impressive body of work including working with brands such as Diesel Sunglasses, Ford Fiesta, Cosmopolitan Magazine, La Coste, Vivienne Westwood, Nikon, Nokia and T-mobile amongst others. He is also a lovely friend, and throws the best parties. If you ever feel down, Yash is the kind of person you can count on to make you feel good about yourself again. Everyone should have a friend like Yash. You can't help but love him, and it so happens he photographs wonderfully as well.

These images are from a shoot on a lovely summer day in Battersea Park. I seem to have been shooting so much this summer, that if I'm going to enjoy any of the sun I'll have to shoot outdoors!

Sundal & Yash

I know I promised a daily dose of Alex images, which I haven't delivered on. Do not fear, there are more images of Alex to be shared soon :)

In the meantime wanted to share some images from my shoot with Sundal Roy (Leni's Model management) and Yash Ozbaris (MOT Models). Hair & make-up by Gabriella Ciullo. Drea, Norwegian photographer, assisted during the shoot.

Summery editorial feel to this shoot. Lovely day out with great people, sounds like a typical Saturday to me :)

Alex @ D1

I took so many images at one of my most recent shoots that I want to share with you, that I'm going to give you a little treat of Alex every day this week. I created a little digital Alex booklet from the shoot, so will share a few pages in the following days.

Alex @ D1 was an absolutely delight to work with and brought so much to set. He was innovative, charming and professional in his approach and gave it all to get good results. And let's not forget stunningly handsome. As I kept getting so much variety in what we were shooting I kept shooting way above what I had planned to shoot that day. Hence having to split this into many smaller blogs. Hope you guys like them and enjoy them as much as I enjoyed shooting it.

Including link to the song I was listening to through the whole of the editing process for this set. Yep! I tend to listen to one song on repeat when editing. Really gets me into a trance of editing.

Charlie @ D1

Next boy from my string of testing new faces with D1. Was great fun shooting the lovely Charlie, and Gosia managed to sneakily borrow a bike for us to play with. Thank you to the lovely bike girl.

A bit about lighting

I'm currently being featured on the blog Lighting for Photo, which is a blog around lighting techniques for photography. I'm not quite sure when I turned into a lighting expert, as I use quite simple lighting setups. But I guess being able to make the most out of the natural light you have, and utilize studio lighting when needed, has become one of the things people comment on quite a lot with my photography. Well here's a chance to see in a bit more details how I work different situations when it comes to lighting.

Click to read my interview (woo... fancy!) or click the image below to see my first lighting scenario out of the 5 I will be contributing with.
